The GEM programme
The GEM programme provides training and internships for passionate, values-driven graduates around the country. This 12-month programme delivers high quality management and leadership training, combined with paid work experience internships. Each recruit is also given one-to-one mentor support from housing leaders. The programme is accredited by CIH, with students studying towards a Level 4 Certificate for the Housing Profession.
GEM first launched in 2009 in West Yorkshire and has now expanded to involve a range of housing associations in England and Scotland. Since the programme went ‘national’ in 2012, 100% of the GEM graduates entering the jobs market have gone on to successfully secure jobs, with around 90% moving into careers in social housing.
