An update from CIH's South East board chair
Anne Chapman, the chair of our South East board, gives an update on what's been happening in the region.
As we head into April there is so much on the horizon in our world of housing.
The South East region just held its annual conference in Brighton. With over 2,000 delegates over the three days, this year’s programme was packed with sessions on current and future policy and a number of master classes offering the skills to enhance our day to day roles.
Also taking place at the Brighton Centre during our annual conference was the Home Ownership and Leasehold Management Conference and the Big Conversation. All the delegates from these conferences were invited into the main exhibition hall to view the exhibition and the new housing hubs as well as network with colleagues. Watch one of our guest speakers George Clark and give his thoughts on the conference and design and innovation.
The eagerly anticipated Housing White Paper was debated during the conference enabling us to explore the implications and how we can best contribute to the growth of housing across all tenures. You can hear Gavin Smart gives his views on the White paper here.
Looking ahead, our 2017 agenda for CIH members in the South East region offers a variety of ways in which we can learn and develop our professional housing career including free webinars to locality training and networking. We will share our programme with you shortly but in the meantime do have a look at the CIH website where you can find the current calendar of events.
We will start the annual recruitment of new members to our South East board in May. Would you like to be involved in influencing the CIH offer to our members and the planning of our events? There will be a number of vacancies on our board this year and we will be delighted to receive applications for new members to join the board. Look out for more information when the advertisement appears in the spring.
