CIH ‘disappointed and worried’ by delay in announcement on supported housing

21/07/2016

CIH has expressed its concern following Work and Pensions Secretary Damian Green's revelation that no announcement will be made on the future funding of supported housing until autumn.

CIH chief executive Terrie Alafat CBE said:

"The lack of certainty on the future funding of supported housing is already having a profound impact on provision with many developments stalled and thousands more at serious risk of closure. We know that many providers have already put schemes on hold due to the uncertain funding environment.

"Against this backdrop it is both worrying and disappointing the government has delayed an announcement on its future funding plans for supported housing until autumn.

"We hope that when the announcement finally does come it offers providers clarity and certainty about the future and most importantly gives assurances that vulnerable people will have the security and protection they need."
