Achievements in housing to be recognised at annual awards night
People who work in housing and homelessness are to be recognised at an awards ceremony for their contribution to local communities.
Winners of the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) Housing Awards 2017 will be announced at the ceremony taking place at Titanic Belfast on 24 February. The awards aim to recognise the people making a difference in communities across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
The awards ceremony, now in its eighth year, is sponsored by Choice Housing. Projects that are shortlisted include the removal of the Crumlin Road peace wall for the promoting integration award, and Street Soccer NI – who are using the power of football to change the lives of women who are homeless – for best housing story.
CIH director Nicola McCrudden and Choice Housing group chief executive Michael McDonnell
Speaking ahead of the awards, Nicola McCrudden, CIH director for Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, said: “The past year has not been without its challenges and it is more important than ever to recognise the positive and immensely valuable contribution of the housing sector to individuals, families and communities.
“The nominations have been made and the finalists have been announced – as always the standard of the nominations was incredibly high and the judges were struck by some of the great work being done.”
Michael McDonnell, group chief executive of Choice Housing said: “Choice are delighted to be the headline sponsor of the CIH Awards 2017 for the second year running. The awards showcase the pioneering work and outstanding achievements of housing associations across Ireland.
