South East conference keynote: How affordable is affordable?


Having heard at other sessions about the supply of housing, another hot topic for debate was the issue of affordability.

This was considered by a panel of experts comprising Richard Blakeway (director, housing for Mayor of London), Keith House (the leader of Eastleigh Borough Council), Peter Stringer (chief executive, Golding Homes) and David Gibson (Living Rent campaign). BBC home affairs editor Mark Easton posed a number of probing questions about the government’s housing policy and the focus on home ownership.
