The Chartered Institute of Housing is the independent voice for housing and the home of professional standards

South East

We believe that access to decent, affordable housing in safe, prosperous places that respect the environment really makes a difference to individuals, families and communities in the South East. We work to make this a reality in our region.

NEW: home ownership board »

Did you know that we have a thriving home ownership and leasehold discussion group based in the south east?

Membership is made up of representatives from local authorities and housing associations located in the south east of England. The group provides a forum for housing professionals to exchange views and opinions and to share best practice. Meetings are held on a quarterly basis with a flexible agenda, for which recent topics have included:

  • changes to right to buy
  • implications in practice arising from changes in the law
  • service charge accounts
  • auditing changes
  • ‘share to buy’

The group also operates an email network for members to engage with each other for feedback on policies, procedures and ideas for service improvement. In addition, the group holds an annual conference, focusing on a wide range of home ownership and leasehold topics.

The next meeting is 9 May in Redhill. If you would like to attend this meeting or join the discussion group, please contact Kelly Seenundun

Celebration in London & South East marks CIH centenary »

On 8 December CIH hosted a series of celebrations to mark its centenary.

London and South East Boards hosted a lively networking event to mark CIH at 100.

The event at City Hall provided a perfect backdrop over the Thames with the City lights illuminating some great discussions.

Anne Chapman, Chair of South East Board introduced the evening by marking the incredible contribution of Octavia Hill.

Alice Smith, winner of the 2016 CIH Rising Stars award, wowed the crowd with a fantastic talk giving a compelling view from someone at the start of their housing career.

Kate Dodsworth, Chair of London Board, closed the formalities with a plea for housing to be seen as a profession that young people aspire to.
