This is an essential course for busy housing practitioners who need to keep up to date with the constantly changing world of housing law. The course provides an overview of changes in legislation, caselaw, regulation and guidance in a range of areas relevant to housing management. The course also considers imminent changes to housing law that have not yet come into effect, and the likely implications of these.

Learning Outcomes/objectives

The course currently includes the following topics, but will be updated to take account of any changes:

• Latest caselaw relating to the Human Rights Act 1998 and possession proceedings, and also public law defences to possession actions

• Recent caselaw on a wide range of issues, including: anti-social behaviour; creation of tenancies; succession on death of a tenant; assignment and exchange; abandonment/illegal eviction; etc.

• Forthcoming changes to housing law

• Any other relevant changes

Who should attend

This course is ideal for estate management and public contact staff from local authorities and housing associations who have an understanding of housing law but require an update on recent changes
