I was excited to hear that I had been chosen to be the vice lead for the CIH West Midlands regional group, which I have been a member of for some time now.
I have been a housing professional for many years and was proud to be awarded the CIH Fellowship. I work for Shropshire Council in the housing services team.
Since joining the housing family, I have never lost my enthusiasm, passion and commitment to make a difference to people’s lives. I want to continue this journey of learning and growing as an individual, but most importantly for me is to always have that can-do attitude, challenge the norm, stick my head above the parapet and always do my very best.
As vice chair, I will bring valuable insights, leadership and housing skills and a commitment to address housing challenges. To help meet the group’s objectives I aim to foster collaboration between members, drive positive change in the sector, and represent the interests of housing professionals and communities.
Being part of CIH West Midlands regional group we have been tasked to increase awareness of the benefits of CIH and its membership. As part of this challenge, I have been supported by my colleagues within housing services at Shropshire Council to set up a Shropshire Town and Rural Housing and Shropshire Council CIH Club, which meets every two months. We have guest speakers on various housing subjects, including good practice, the CIH professional standards, together with updates from regional manager, Jill Allcoat, which are very informative.
We are currently a small group of regional CIH members, we are hoping to grow the membership over the coming months through collaboration and promoting the work we are doing going forward. I am really fortunate and excited to be part of this group of professionals.
If you’re a CIH member and interested in getting involved please do get in touch with us, we’re a really friendly bunch!
