Lovell Partnerships are delighted to be attending the CIH Scotland Housing Awards on 27 October. We are really looking forward to the event, and it will be good to see everyone together once more.
We are also delighted to be sponsoring the “Working in Partnership” category at the event. Partnerships are at the very foundation of everything we do at Lovell and regardless of the unprecedented times we find ourselves in, the demand for new homes of all tenures shows no sign of slowing. It is therefore great to see how the partnerships Lovell have with our clients are helping to deliver higher levels of affordable housing where it is needed.
As we look beyond Covid, there are a number of headwinds we face. Construction cost inflation combined with the availability of resources and labour remains a key challenge impacting on all of us. We have worked closely with all our supply chain and evolved our site working practices to manage this as effectively as we can as we understand the pressure this adds to the delivery of your own new build programs.
We have all also been planning for zero-carbon futures – both in terms of the new homes we deliver but, critically, the impact of planning the zero-carbon retrofit to our existing homes. Collaboration across all sectors and supply chains, as well as Government support and investment, will be essential and we look forward to progressing and sharing learning from our first pilot projects on this basis.
Many people are also facing real and deep fuel poverty with the increase in their energy bills already hitting them hard alongside the other inflationary pressures we face. This is something that the sector has done so much great and innovative work on over the years and that support will be needed now more than ever.
However, we don’t want to only focus on the challenges we face but to applaud the successes and the great work that has been happening in the sector. No other sector can claim to support their customers in the way you do – whether it is helping them access employment and training, supporting their mental and physical health and wellbeing, or delivering care and support to our most vulnerable people, the sector continues to demonstrate what delivering social value really means. A sector we are proud to be part of.
On behalf of the Lovell team, we look forward to seeing you all on 27 October.
