CIH Level 4 Certificate in Housing
This qualification will provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge to face the current challenges in housing, covering key aspects of housing policy and law.
The qualification aims to:
- provide the knowledge and skills required to operate effectively at a management level in the housing sector
- prepare you for further study in housing related qualifications at level 5 / undergraduate level.
You must complete six units, made up of four mandatory units and two from a choice of options. The four units that must be taken are:
- Financing for Housing
- Housing law
- Housing policy
- Professional practice skills for housing
The qualification is on the regulated qualification framework.
You can enrol onto this qualification if you:
- aged 18 and over
- working or resident in the UK and Ireland
- in or aspiring to a supervisory or management role in housing
- already have a level 3 qualification and/or experience of working in housing, preferably at a supervisory/management level
CIH Level 4 Certificate in Managing Housing Maintenance
The objective of this qualification is to provide you with the knowledge required to manage a housing maintenance service.
The qualification aims to:
- provide housing staff working at or aspiring to a supervisory or management level with a qualification to suit their needs
- develop skills and knowledge for the current challenges in housing and responsive repairs
- and prepare learners for further study in housing related qualifications at level 5 / undergraduate level
In order to achieve the qualification, learners must achieve a minimum of 36 credits from one mandatory unit and five optional units. It is also possible to achieve the following pathways:
- Responsive repairs
- Planned maintenance

I have thoroughly enjoyed my CIH Level 4 studies this year. It has given me a great opportunity to learn from the experience of other housing professionals within the business. Overall Level 4 has given me a better understanding of the social housing sector and a desire to keep learning. Next step, Level 5 with my sights set on being a fully chartered member of CIH!
