At the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH), our purpose is simple. We want to provide everyone in housing with the skills, support and knowledge they need to be the best they can be. To help us do this, we work with a team of dedicated, exceptional individuals to inspire our members and champion the wider housing profession.
With that in mind, we’re excited to share that from 9am, 15 June 2023 we’re now accepting nominations from our membership to become the next CIH vice president.
CIH members are invited to nominate either themselves or another CIH member to take up the mantle. A significant role at CIH, the next vice president will work closely with president elect Jill Haley, and represent CIH in the absence of the president.
Nominees for vice president must demonstrate that they can:
Speaking about the presidency, Lara Oyedele CIHCM, current CIH president said: "Being president of the CIH is the best thing I’ve done to date. I am passionate about what social housing does; I love people and I love talking to people about social housing; so being president has been the perfect role for me.
“The presidency has given me the opportunity to highlight an important issue - one that the sector finds uncomfortable to discuss - the lack of ethnic and racial diversity in the sector’s leadership.
“I never expected members to vote for me, but they did. If I can do it, so can you. Apply!! Fill in that form. And give yourself the opportunity to have a lasting impact on the UK housing sector.”
The deadline for the receipt of nominations is 5pm, 12 July 2023. Eligible nominees will be put forward for election by the membership of CIH. The ballot will commence in July 2023, and the person elected will take office as CIH vice president with effect from the next annual general meeting.
