Following the announcement, earlier this week, that the general election with take place in July, CIH will be working hard to make the case for housing during the campaign. Our ten point plan for housing offers a blueprint for addressing the housing crisis for an incoming new government and our member exclusive general election toolkit will support members to make case for housing themselves.
Elements of government work are required to stop during an election and our understanding is that work on the further implementation of the social housing reforms in England – including Awaabs Law and the Conduct and Competence Standard (which includes mandatory qualifications) - will now be paused until after the general election period.
We will provide further updates across the course of the election.
