CIH pays tribute to Tony Crook

We at CIH were sad to learn of the death of Tony Crook, emeritus professor at Sheffield University’s School of Geography and Planning and a known authority on many aspects of housing policy. Tony was not only an academic but was very active in the housing space, spoke at many of our conferences and events and was a member of CIH’s policy advisory committee for a number of years. He was notable as a professional town planner who branched out to specialise in housing and whose particular expertise was to combine both disciplines, particularly in answering ever topical questions such as how the planning system can best help achieve the building of the affordable homes the country needs.

Tony’s contribution was recognised formally in 2014 through his CBE, but he will be best remembered as someone who made a major contribution to research and policymaking while always being prepared to share his knowledge and expertise with others.
