CIH Northern Ireland Futures, write to the Ministers of the NI Executive to raise concerns on the budget cuts to the Social Housing Development Plan.
We believe that increasing the supply of high-quality, affordable housing is imperative to efforts in this society to prevent and reduce homelessness.
Put succinctly, society will not be able to reduce homelessness without an adequate supply of housing.
As a group, we believe budget cuts to the housing sector will have a significant impact on young professionals working within it, creating a challenging future.
With fewer resources, this increases the risk of burnout to existing staff levels, leading to high turnover and further straining the sector.
Estate manager at Iveagh Trust
"My role allows me to have a direct impact on people’s lives by ensuring property and estates run smoothly and efficiently. I enjoy the diversity of challenges that come with the job, as these tasks keep me engaged and constantly learning. My favourite part is knowing that my efforts contribute to a safe, comfortable and enjoyable living environment, and seeing residents thrive as a result is truly fulfilling."
Board member and head of communication & policy at Clúid
I’ve worked in a range of sectors during my career – from fruit retail and tea and coffee wholesale to music publication and luxury clothing. Three years ago, the opportunity to join Clúid arose, and I embarked on a new chapter in housing and haven’t looked back. A central tenet at both Clúid and CIH Futures is the importance of putting residents at the centre of decisions being made about their lives. I’m energised by the possibilities open to the sector and feel privileged to play a small part in shaping a better future.
I have worked in the housing sector for 10 years across a number of different areas. I am passionate about providing quality homes and helping to build sustainable communities. I believe that raising awareness and promoting housing as a career to the next generation is a pivotal long term step in helping to solve the housing crisis.
