What made you want to apply for Apex online and why was it important for you to complete this phase of your professional career, to achieve chartered status?

In my career development plan last year I had a couple of objectives I wanted to achieve which I hadn’t got round to completing. My personal target for the year was to become a chartered member with the Chartered Institute of Housing. I had already completed a professional qualification prior to 2007, but I wanted chartered status.

It was important for me at this stage of my career to achieve chartered status so I have this to add to my personal statement and by completing Apex online, it demonstrates your professional practice. Not only having completed a whole qualification but also having that recognition from CIH is helping to strengthen my career.

How did you find the course content online?

Apex online materials are available on the CIH Moodle site. The content of the course is linked to the practical work you are doing in your day to day job.

Did you make use of your membership when completing the course activities? If yes, which ones and how?

I found the webinars and CPD portal the most useful. It was important to me that I had somewhere to capture all of my professional development. Once I finished Apex, I then paid straight away for my chartered membership. The next stage for me is to diarise the events, training course and webinars I am interested in. In my own personal development for 2018-2019 I’ll be looking at becoming a CIH fellow.
