At CIH, we believe that your wellbeing is paramount. We are committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace where you can thrive both professionally and personally. Our culture is built on collaboration, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to excellence.

We understand that a healthy work-life balance is essential, and we strive to provide resources and a culture that empowers you to achieve it, this doesn’t mean just mental health, it’s physical, financial and social health too.

Physical and mental first aid

As well as colleagues in our offices being looked after by the required physical first aiders, at CIH we also have a team of trained mental health first aiders who support all colleagues virtually and in the office with mental wellbeing support.

The team of 10 are trained by Mental Health First Aid England and can offer support to colleagues for any number of reasons. With the addition of having the employee assistance programme to further any support, the team are on hand to lend a supportive ear to anyone who needs it.

“I was struggling to keep up with my work alongside the stresses I was experiencing in my personal life. Although I’d told my line manager what was going on, I also took the chance to grab a cuppa with one of the mental health first aiders. Just being able to have a chat with them really took a weight off my mind; they listened and helped me come to terms with what help I needed to ask for.”

Colleague wellbeing group

At CIH we believe in hearing what our colleagues are saying, good or bad. This is why we have a colleague wellbeing group to feed back any thoughts, ideas or just general feedback on what colleagues around the business are saying.

Representatives from each team meet every two months to discuss a range of issues from colleague benefits to ways of working.

Inclusivity at the core

As we live our values and culture as a business, we want to ensure that all voices are represented and listened to. We have an EDI group at CIH who work together to make sure everything that we do is inclusive, they also work with our EDI board members to enhance this voice and message out into the wider sector as well.

If you’re struggling with your mental health there is help and support out there

Please don’t suffer in silence. There are charities and providers out there offering a range of support. For more information you can visit the support and wellbeing section of our Knowledge Hub – although a resource for CIH members there is lots of great advice in here open for everyone.
