To tackle youth homelessness, we must understand the needs of young people. Hear from those working to end it.

The Centrepoint Youth Homelessness Databank is the only central source of UK youth homelessness statistics and in 2022-23, indicated that the East of England had the highest rates in the UK. Join the CIH Eastern regional group as they host a session exploring new Centrepoint 2023-24 data and speak with organisations working on the frontline of youth homelessness services.

Centrepoint’s Youth Homelessness Databank shows 1 in 52 young people are homeless or at risk of homelessness in the UK, with the East of England having the highest rates, up 14% since 2020.

Join us for a session hosted by the CIH Eastern regional group, as they look at the national picture of youth homelessness and how organisations in the East of England are supporting 16–25-year-olds presenting as homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Tom Kerridge, Policy and research manager at Centrepoint will be introducing the latest data from their Databank, alongside Caroline Barkham, Director of housing at Impakt; an organisation working in the East of England that manages accommodation for 16–25-year-olds.

We will hear from Katie O'Connor,  Impact research and implementation lead at Greater Change, who will look at their theory of change, as well as the impact of their work in the East of England.

Simon Penn, Housing Advice Partnership Manager with Cambridge City Council will give an overview of ways that the council are tackling youth homelessness and innovations they are implementing to stop young people rough sleeping and in the move out of supported accommodation.

Stephanie Morphew, Policy and practice officer, homelessness, domestic abuse and supported housing at the Chartered Institute of Housing will update on the Government’s cross-departmental homelessness strategy and long-term plan for housing.
