The Chartered Institute for Housing (CIH) have released updated letting and managing residential property qualifications. The Awarding Organisation, who work with multiple study centres across the UK, provided the updated OFQUAL regulated level 2 and level 3 courses from 1 April of this year after a qualification review.
Due to high demand for the course in Scotland, CIH have gained approval from the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) to provide an SQA Accreditation at SCQF level 6, allowing learners to study Scotland specific content and gain an SQA accreditation certificate to reflect to this.
The qualification specification for the SCQF level 6 qualification and the level 3 certificate are identical, enabling delivery centers to create learning and assessment materials relevant to the nation that they are registering their learners onto.
All the qualifications are vocational and are designed to support entry and progression within the private rental sector. The courses are also suitable for learners in housing roles that require a knowledge of the legal requirements of tenancies, property standards, and customer service.
Sarah Dunkerley, director of professional development at CIH commented on the news saying:
“ The private rented sector plays a pivotal role in our housing system. We are delighted to provide updated qualifications to enable housing professionals working in PRS to establish themselves as a professional with a course that provides meaningful theoretical knowledge, essential skills, and learning to perform at the highest level.
“Working with the SQA to provide a Scotland specific qualification is a fantastic addition to our qualifications roster, and we look forward to working with our Scottish study centres with this new offer.”
The final date for new registration of the legacy version of the Letting and Managing Residential Property qualifications will be 31 March 2025, with the 31 March 2027 the last date for certificate claims.
