Government has confirmed the latest wave of funding through the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund and Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme to upgrade social homes and public buildings.
Responding to the news, head of policy and external affairs Rachael Williamson said:
"After one of the toughest winters on record, it is hugely welcome that the government has confirmed its plans to allocate billions of pounds to social housing providers to help them retrofit energy inefficient homes.
"The social housing sector has long been at the vanguard of parallel efforts to cut domestic carbon emissions and household energy bills, and this funding will enable them to go even further, supporting the forging of safe, decent homes for residents while simultaneously growing local and regional supply chains.
"Given the undoubtedly positive impacts these schemes are having - and will continue to have - on beneficiaries and the wider economy, the government should now explore how it can bring forward additional energy efficiency funding into this parliament. Doing so would help futureproof more homes from volatile energy prices next winter and deepen the government's ongoing commitment to the rapid decarbonisation of our national housing stock."
