New members join CIH professional standards committee

We’re delighted to announce that after a recent recruitment drive, we have now appointed six new members to the Chartered Institute of Housing’s (CIH) professional standards committee.

The professional standards committee (PSC) is a delegated board within CIH’s governance structure. This group has been meeting since 2016 and is made up of up to ten members from across the four nations of the UK. The PSC has a number of functions, including:

• Supporting the ongoing development of CIH’s professionalism work, including the professional standards framework and the journey towards professional recognition
• Acting as a sounding board as we refine and review our CPD offer to integrate it into our professionalism work
• Overseeing compliance with the CIH code of conduct by CIH members
• Helping ensure membership remains current and valuable, with strong professional values at its core.

The new members of the committee are:

• Martin Hayle, director of care and support at Citizen Housing
• Sandra Maguire, neighbourhood Operations Manager (West Essex) at Moat
• Lindsay Driscoll, training advisor at Sysco Business Skills Academy
• Linsay Baverstock, people partner at Settle
• Janine Green, specialist in community safety and anti-social behaviour (ASB)
• Patricia Harrington, future workspace engagement manager, Aspire Housing.

Stephen Cook, chair of CIH’s professional standards committee said:

The work we do is so important, which is why the professional standards committee exists, to help continuously develop CIH’s professional pathway and review the continuing professional development offer.

“As we move forward with details set out in the Social Housing White Paper, it is an important time for the sector to focus on professional standards and it was fantastic to see the commitment of so many people that applied to join the committee. I am really looking forward to welcoming the new members and working with them to drive up professional standards across housing.”
