News about your CIH membership

CIH is the home of professional standards, and as ever, your membership is here to support and guide you. We believe that a skilled profession will help us to create a future in which everyone has a place to call home. 

Our job at CIH is to provide you with knowledge and community so you can do your job brilliantly, as we serve our residents and tenants in creating the place they call home. 

The Social Housing (Regulation) Act and new requirement for mandatory qualifications have brought professionalism within the sector to the fore. By being a member of your professional body, you are placing yourself in the best possible position to effectively respond to this new government agenda, as you are already demonstrating your commitment to professional development. 

We have been making some big changes to our membership. Today, we’re writing to confirm another change, which you may remember us telling you about last year. 

Whilst we have long worked with Ocean Media Group (OMG), the publishers of Inside Housing, from the 20 September 2023 your CIH membership will no longer include access to Inside Housing.

However, with each loss comes a gain.  

We have been working on a new member-exclusive publication called CIH Unlocked. Delivered alongside the popular Housing Matters newsletter, Unlocked has been developed in direct response to member feedback. 

Overwhelmingly, you said you wanted to see more best-practice guidance and actionable insight. Unlocked will do precisely that when it officially launches next week. Each edition will contain at least five must-read pieces that will help you do your job right now. 

In addition to Unlocked, we are thinking about how we ensure members continue to be kept up to date with what’s happening within the sector. More information on this will follow.  

Delivering fresh and informative editorial content is not the only new way we’re looking to deliver value to members. We are thinking about a brand-new event for 2024 that will bring together the housing community like never before. As a CIH member, you will be granted free access to this event. Further details on this will be announced in the autumn.  

CIH is a not-for-profit organisation, which means every pound we make is invested back into charitable activities. We are also the home of professional standards in housing, a role we will never take for granted.  

Ultimately, we make it our mission to help you become the best housing professional possible, so that together, we can ensure everyone has a place to call home. We thank you for your support and for continuing to make CIH your home in housing.
