Response to the energy price cap rise

Ofgem has confirmed that the energy price cap will rise to £3,549 per year this October, increasing by almost a third on last year. This will have a particularly acute impact on social housing tenants.

As our cost of living briefings show, households on the lowest incomes (many of whom live in social housing) are already facing a higher rate of inflation than those on the highest incomes. As a member of the End Fuel Poverty Coalition, CIH has joined with dozens of organisations in supporting the ‘warm this winter’ campaign calling for urgent government action to address rising energy costs. CIH will be running events for housing providers to come together and share practical support over the coming months.
