CHOOSE HOUSING is a CIH presidential campaign, by Elly Hoult, that seeks to raise awareness of the career opportunities the housing sector provides. The campaign focuses on encouraging greater diversity in the sector and inspiring more people to pursue housing as a career of choice.
The phrase “I fell into a housing career” is often heard. This year’s presidential campaign’s purpose is to replace it – encouraging everyone to CHOOSE HOUSING.
No matter who you are or where you come from, choosing the right career can shape your future. In the housing sector, we do more than provide homes - we create opportunities, build communities and make a real difference in people's lives. Whether you’re just starting out or are looking to make a change, there’s a place for everyone in housing.
That's why, for this year’s presidential campaign Elly Hoult has developed CHOOSE HOUSING.
CHOOSE HOUSING is about being proud of our profession , showcasing the amazing career opportunities housing provides and using our voice as a sector to encourage the next generation of housing professionals to CHOOSE HOUSING.
Housing is rich with diverse opportunities, from apprenticeships to entry-level roles and beyond. Encouraging people to explore careers in housing can open doors to meaningful work that aligns with their skills and interests.
Housing is more than just putting a roof over someone’s head. It’s about making a difference to people's lives. Whether it’s getting people into better jobs, providing financial support, or keeping residents and communities safe and warm over winter.
CHOOSE HOUSING will promote the housing as a career with social purpose and heart, showcasing the rewarding nature of a career in housing, so as a sector we can recruit and retain the best talent across the wide range of jobs housing offers – from housing to construction to corporate services.

Barnardo's
Elly has chosen to raise money for Barnardo’s, a charity which has been changing childhoods and lives for over 150 years. Barnardo’s makes sure children and young people feel safer, happier, healthier and more hopeful, by running over 800 specialist services across the UK, and campaigning to change the way the system works for the better.
