Lockdowns and numerous restrictions have resulted in the number of net new homes built falling to a five-year low - a sharp contrast to 2019-20, when the number hit the highest point since records began in the 1990s.

The reality of high housing costs, poor standards and overcrowding was felt by many when homes became classrooms and offices. Against this backdrop we have seen an increased focus on the climate emergency and what it means for the way we live and build.

Reinventing Homes, a new-style programme co-produced by the Chartered Institute of Housing and ITN Business, looks how the pandemic and the ongoing climate crisis are affecting the housing sector. The programme shares some of the incredible work that housing associations, local authorities and others have pioneered in response.
