This eLearning module will focus on advocate, helping you examine its application in the work context and make links between the concept of being an advocate and producing positive outcomes for you, your colleagues, your organisation and residents.

We will explore the five core elements of this characteristic (reputation, stigma, public pride, ambassador and community), examining how, as a housing professional, you act as an ambassador for the sector and exploring what this means in supporting and speaking up for your organisation and the wider profession.

What will I learn?

This eLearning module will:

  • Take positive steps and build on your ability to be an ambassador for your organisation and residents

  • Discover how the use of language can help either reinforce or remove the stigma and its impact on how residents are made to feel

  • Confidently defend residents and their communities and support colleagues in delivering a professional service

  • Examine the steps and actions you can take to avoid negative stereotyping and challenge the use of negative language which creates and reinforces the stigmatisation

  • Build on how to encourage, promote and enhance the communities you work and live in.

How will I learn?

You’ll be faced with a range of tasks, scenarios and activities to critically reflect on your behaviours and assumptions, exploring examples and new techniques to help you develop.

This eLearning module is interactive and includes videos, case studies/real-life examples where you can test yourself, download information, reflect and go into as much detail as is right for you.

Who should attend?

Individuals, organisations, and residents will all benefit from you completing this training.

This module is designed for all housing professionals and practitioners, whatever your role, expertise or specialism.
