Why attend?

As the professional body for the housing sector, CIH is always to looking for ways to support and enhance professional practice across the housing workforce. And with new qualification requirements for senior social housing practitioners being introduced in England, the profession in Scotland has a once in a generation opportunity to consider how we support practitioner professionalism in this country.

CIH Scotland doesn’t think mandatory qualifications are the answer in Scotland, but we can’t stand still as England embarks on greater professional recognition and we want to work with you, our CIH members, to agree the changes we want to see here.

Over the last few months, CIH Scotland has developed an outline of work in three distinct areas that we believe, if adopted, would transform how the sector approaches housing as a profession:

  1. Making the case for housing management professionals to be registered and required to commit to CPD
  2. The development of a new Housing Professionalism Commitment for all social landlords to sign up to
  3. Housing Management workforce planning research (currently in progress).

The new Housing Bill presents a chance to influence the future of the housing sector and for us to consider what requirements for the housing management profession to deliver housing services we think are appropriate.
